Losing weight is the most popular New Year’s resolution, ranking higher than even quitting smoking. If you’re one of the many who’ve resolved that next year would be the year of a fitter, leaner you, then check out these start-of-the-year tips to help you shed those extra pounds.
• Create a realistic weight goal with a matching target date. You can then plot short-term goals around your main weight goal. For instance, a main weight goal of losing 10 pounds in 3 months can be divided into one-pound-a-week short term goals.
• Set a plan around your weight goal. Do your research. Plan diets, join a local fitness center, get started with sports – whatever works for you.
• Keep a fitness journal. A well-documented plan has a better chance of succeeding, so make sure you write down goals, plans, daily habits, etc.
• Clean up your life. More specifically, your pantry and fridge. You need all the help you can get and a freezer filled with ice cream is not one of them. Stock up on healthy food and make sure you don’t let in your kitchen anything that might hinder your reaching your goal.
